oogle announced today that the Product Listing Ads (PLA’s) currently running in beta in the Google Affiliate Network will move out of beta and into the Google Adwords program. The launch is set to take place in the third quarter with all PLA participants live in Adwords by the end of October.
Currently PLA’s are only available as a stand alone product on a CPA basis. Once launched in Adwords PLA’s will operate on a CPC model with select current advertisers having the option to continue on a CPA model. Advertisers will also have the ability to display PLA’s as product extensions used with existing text ads or as a stand alone product. Performance reporting will be available in Adwords and revenue will be tracked using your current Adwords conversion tracking.
If you’re currently participating in the PLA program you will continue to run as normal until the change occurs. We will be contacting advertisers in the coming months as Google releases more information on the change.

If you’re currently displaying products on Google Shopping through the Google Merchant Center you can now enhance your PPC ads on Google Adwords by simply linking them together. We’ve already seen a considerable increase in click through rates on enhanced listings featuring Product Extensions.

Use it to display additional categories, seasonal and limited promotions or a combination of both.
Here’s an example of how Circuit City is taking advantage of Ad Sitelinks. They chose to use links to include additional categories and promotional material such as “Affordable Laptops”, “Exclusive GPS Deals” and “Amazing HDTV’s”. Read more
